From a Small Group to a Growing Movement
Refugee Basketball Academy (RBA) is a youth-led sports and social development organization based in Kampala, Uganda. Founded in 2024 by young Congolese refugees, RBA uses basketball as a powerful tool for empowerment, leadership development, education, mental well-being, and social inclusion.
What started with a small group of around 10 young players has grown into a community-driven movement that has reached more than 250 children and youth through basketball training, mentorship, leadership programs, camps, and community engagement activities.

Creating Opportunities Through Sport
We provide structured programs that develop both athletic and personal growth through basketball training, leadership development, and mentorship.
Basketball Development Program
Regular training and mentorship for youth in Kampala. Age categories: U8, U14, U16, U18, U25. Focus on fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
Imara Basketball Camp
Flagship initiative providing refugee youth access to quality coaching, leadership training, and personal development. Two editions held in Kyaka II and Nakivale Refugee Settlements.
HerPower Initiative
Women and girls empowerment program focused on mental health, leadership, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and sports inclusion for refugee women and girls.
